Create and reuse add-ons

1Open the creation sample

Open Theme settings → Add-ons. Choose your Creation sample once. At the bottom of the preview, expand Add-on creator and click Create add-on. This opens the selected sample in your current store’s Shopify admin.

First setup only: if no sample exists, create one in Shopify, add the exact tag MeAero-Accessory, choose the meaero-accessory theme template, and select it in the theme settings. Keep your preferred image and common product details in this sample. Do not assign the sample itself as an add-on.

2Duplicate and keep the defaults

On the full Shopify product page, click Duplicate. Enter the new add-on’s name, choose Unlisted, and include the image when offered. Shopify copies supported product details. Keep the MeAero-Accessory tag and meaero-accessory template.

The small product editor opened from a theme picker may not show Duplicate. Use the Create add-on link in the preview footer to open the full page. The theme cannot add controls under Shopify’s native fields or fill them with a script.

3Set the name and price

On the new copy, enter its real price and change the image only if needed. Review inventory, physical-product shipping, tax settings and variants for this specific item. These business settings should not be blindly copied. Use a real zero-priced product for a free add-on. A product requiring a selling plan is not supported by this add-on selector.

Do not edit the sample when naming or pricing a new add-on. Its saved defaults remain available for the next copy. The theme’s shared layout and style stay unchanged.

4Save, then select the add-on

Save in Shopify and confirm the saved product before returning to MeAero. Open the target product template, add an Options set, choose the main products or collections it applies to, then add an Options group. Use Add add-ons to search and select one or several existing items. Reorder or remove references in the picker.

Only select products carrying MeAero-Accessory, never the creation sample. Shopify’s native picker also lists ordinary products. New groups use the library picker; existing individual links are retained. To change an existing group, open Advanced settings and choose Add-on library as its source. It is best to preserve individual links when they contain item-specific rules or nested fields.

5Reuse, update and remove

Use the same add-on in multiple option sets. Edit its Shopify product once; every reference reads the updated name, image and current market price on the next render. Existing carts and completed orders follow Shopify’s own pricing rules; they are not rewritten by this theme.

Removing a link does not delete the add-on. Deleted or unregistered products and the creation sample are omitted from customer choices; the editor shows a repair notice. Sold-out items remain unavailable. A required group remains blocked if no valid choice exists. An empty optional group is hidden.

To create another item, return to the unchanged sample and Duplicate again. Saving the theme never creates a product. If Shopify reports an error or a response is uncertain, check the product list before duplicating again. Native duplication creates a new record each time; the theme does not intercept it or promise global duplicate prevention.
